Myrcene’s sedative reputation rests largely on rodent work at doses far beyond anything present in a cannabis product, plus a good deal of folklore.
Blue Dream is the cleanest counterexample in the catalog. It is reliably myrcene-dominant, comfortably past that supposed cutoff, and it is reported by consumers as creative, euphoric and suited to daytime use. If the rule held, this cultivar could not exist as it does.
